FAQ 2017-08-08T10:28:48+00:00
How does it work? 2017-11-08T15:07:29+00:00

Somnox simulates breathing. Because your breathing naturally adjusts to another breathing pattern, Somnox is able to slow down your breathing. This makes you relax, making it easier to sleep. For more information: http://www.somnox.nl/breathing.

Additionally, Somnox can function as an external point to focus your thoughts on, clearing your head of unwanted thoughts and stress. Also sounds (such as a guided meditation or a heartbeat) are used to help you fall asleep and will turn off as soon as you are asleep: http://www.somnox.nl/sounds

Can I test Somnox before I buy? 2017-11-08T15:09:07+00:00
In the last year, we conducted many tests with testsleepers. We will continue to do this. However, at this moment, all spots are filled. In the future, we will ask for new testsleepers in our newsletter.

When you pre-order Somnox, for example during our crowdfunding campaign (14 nov – 14 dec), you will be able to use our 30 night return policy after we deliver the product.
How much will Somnox cost? 2017-11-08T15:10:32+00:00

Somnox is currently under development and not yet available on the market. At the moment we are negotiating with manufacturers. The estimated retail price will be around €589,-.

On November 14th 11:00 (GMT +01:00 AMS) we will launch on Kickstarter. You can then pre-order Somnox for €449,-. If you are there at minute one you get access to a major early bird discount and Somnox is only €349,-.

Does it help if I am suffering from apnea? 2017-07-27T11:26:23+00:00

No. We didn’t conduct any research proving the claim on ‘fighting’ apnea.
Somnox does use breathing as one of it’s core features, but not with the intention on fighting apnea.

Is it washable? 2017-11-09T11:54:53+00:00

Yes, it can be easily washed.
The sleeve of Somnox the sleep robot can be taken off to be washed in the washing machine at a temperature of 60 degrees celsius.
Ensuring a hygienic experience every single time.

What about my partner? 2017-11-08T10:43:43+00:00

You should perceive Somnox as an addition to the family, like a baby laying in between (that doesn’t cry or burp). And hey, why not have a Somnox for the both of you? Spooning together is so much fun.

We also tested Somnox with people who slept with a partner and here we got positive results as well. So Somnox is not only for singles.

Does Somnox come in different sizes? 2017-07-27T11:29:02+00:00

At launch Somnox will only be available in one size.
We have conducted many user tests with many shapes and sizes. We found one size to be ideal for most people.

In the future different sizes will be available as well.

Isn’t technology in the bedroom harmful? 2017-11-08T13:15:02+00:00

Depends on what technology you are refering to.
Generally speaking when people refer to technology in their bedroom it is about mobile phones / laptops and other screen devices (such as a tv).

It is proven in multiple studies that the blue light that a screen emits has a negative impact on your biological clock. Blue light activates the brain rather than putting it to sleep.
Also, your mobile phone is your source of work / stress / updates that activate and stress the body. While the body should be relaxed when going to sleep.

Somnox doesn’t have any screen or blue lights to activate the brain. Somnox has thoroughly developed technology to induce sleep and relax body and mind. Moreover, bluetooth is disabled during the night and Somnox will only send data to the app in the morning

Does Somnox enable bluetooth/wifi during the night? 2017-07-27T11:31:36+00:00

No, Somnox doesn’t.
Somnox uses only bluetooth during the day (when you are awake).
Somnox gathers data during the night locally and transmits them to your phone through bluetooth in the morning.

So no need to worry about bluetooth radiation in your cosy bed.

What is Kickstarter? 2017-11-08T14:53:30+00:00

Kickstarter is a crowdfuding platform. Crowdfunding is an alternative for traditional ways of fundraising like a bank loan or a venture capital investment. With crowdfunding, everyone around the world (=the crowd) can give money in order to get a project or company funded. For our crowdfunding campaign, we use the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.

People can get a reward when a donation is above a certain amount of money. In our case, you get a Somnox sleep robot if you give 449 euro or more and therefore works as a discounted pre-order (retail price will be 589).

Why a crowdfunding campaign? 2017-11-08T14:54:54+00:00

With our crowdfunding campaign, we want to raise funds to finance our production line. If we succeed in this, we can start producing Somnox and deliver our first products. By donating money, pre-ordering a Somnox or buying another item like Somsocks, you can help us get enough money to realise our and other’s dreams.

When does the crowdfunding campaign start? 2017-11-08T14:56:02+00:00

14 November at 11.00 (GMT +01:00 AMS) on Kickstarter. Make sure you are one of the lucky few that get an early-bird discount.

When do I get my sleep robot if I pre-order one on Kickstarter? 2017-11-08T16:02:12+00:00

When the crowdfunding campaign is a success, we will start to set up our production line and manufacture Somnox. We estimate that this will take 6-9 months.

If you want to give Somnox as a gift before this time, for example for Christmas, we offer a gift edition that includes a voucher so you don’t end up with empty hands.

I don’t have a credit card; can I still buy a Somnox via Kickstarter? 2017-11-08T15:00:15+00:00

Kickstarter only accepts credit card on their website. If you don’t have one, you have a few options:

– Borrow someone else’s credit card

– Buy a virtual credit card. This gives you a credit card number that you can use to buy things online. You can transfer money to the virtual credit card with iDEAL or a bank transfer. You can then use the virtual credit card on Kickstarter. For more information (in Dutch) on virtual credit cards: https://www.alleszondercreditcard.nl/virtuele-creditcard/

Examples of virtual creditcards:

https://pay2d.nl/products/virtual/. Note: you can only put 300 euro on the credit card per day.

http://www.mywirecard.com/en/mastercard.html. Note: you can only charge this credit card with bank transfer, not iDEAL.
